Story of Source is a narrative. A narrative born at the source to articulate extraordinary stories of ordinary people. Stories of craft passed on through generations. Of indigenous techniques that have withstood the test of time. And, of story makers who continue to keep tradition alive.
Founded by two friends in Dubai who more often than not lugged their travel finds across countries, cities and airports, Story was born on a trip to Guatemala in October 2018. Fueled by desire to preserve and nourish indigenous craft in a fair and sustainable manner, they partnered with seven individual artisans and collectives - producing their pieces using indigenous techniques and sustainable materials in a fair-trade environment, with artisans setting the prices for their goods.
Effortlessly fusing indigenous techniques with the founders’ playfully modern aesthetic, every Story piece is an invitation to embark on an unexpected and fascinating journey. From vintage textiles to bespoke creations, each one aims to incorporate soul and authenticity into its mix of textures, patterns and influences. And how could they not? Each piece is meticulously crafted entirely by hand (many, in the fact) over the course of weeks.
Brought to life by master artisans across crafts and regions of their source countries, with each collection Story of Source endeavors to uphold and encourage communities and craft.
