Beauty is all around us. In the skies above us and the streets that take us places. This is what inspires Nyumbani Design. Originated from the Kiswahili word for 'home', Nyumbani's aesthetic is inspired by the natural beauty of the Swahili coast and the geometric shapes of architectural structures.
A union of nature and architecture, Nyumbani designs combine indigenous woods in contrasting combinations. These contemporary architectural designs are pieces of wearable body art. A playful interplay between boldness and simplicity. Geometric shapes and color experimentation, where each piece creates the masterful illusion of layering.
Using locally sourced indigenous wood, Nyumbani pieces are hand crafted and shaped by skilled artisans throughout Tanzania. Including the original sculptors of the Nyumbani concept - Ernest and John - who have been with the brand since the start of its journey.
With each piece made from a different section of wood, no two pieces are the same. As importantly, each piece gives back to the rural communities it comes from. Nyumbani has partnered with Mpingo Conservation & Development Initiative, which helps communities generate ethical and sustainable forest-based income by selling responsibly harvested timber. Each jewelry piece sold is a donation to communities planting indigenous trees for the future.
Bold. Architectural. Unique. And soulful. These are just some of the reasons to fall in love with these pieces..
